Project Introduction

In this project studio, students studied physics, engineering, and design as they built their own 1000 sqft Rube Goldberg Machine. The machine was choreographed to music and leveraged aesthetics, design, and art to convey the theme of a jointly-chosen song. As students used the engineering design process to prototype and iterate on their machine, they connected with professional designers and engineers to get feedback and guidance. To document their hard work, students learned and practiced filmmaking techniques to capture a visually compelling video of the working machine.
